How can one know if the Spirit of God is working in a one’s life?

Walking in the Holy Spirit

The Spirit of Life, our seal unto redemption, placed within us at the moment of our salvation, is unceasingly working within us. The primary role of the Holy Spirit in us is to lead us into all truth. So, He will be interacting with you constantly, leading, training and guiding you through every action, through every decision, through every word you speak, and through every thought you have. To 'walk in the Spirit' is to train ourselves to be conscious of the lead of the Spirit within our hearts and even in our conscience. The more we give over to the lead of the Spirit, the more sanctified our live become.

Gal.5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

BUT….I want to say something here. Something IMPORTANT!! The Holy Spirit will NEVER take over your life! You still have to live YOUR life! The Holy Spirit will lead you, but your decisions and your choices are still YOURS to make. The Spirit will NEVER take charge and control anything. So, how then will you know what is the lead of the Spirit?

Here is a very simply, but profound piece of practical experience!

The Holy Spirit will typically only lead you in the "No". Some might call it the 'red flags of warning' or a gnawing conscience! What I'm trying to say is that the Holy Spirit, for the most part, is silent in the "Yes" moments of your life. In my experience, He does not interject with day to day decisions or activities. He seems quiet during these times. BUT, when temptation comes, or danger is on the horizon, or you are lead astray, then there are 'warning flags in your spirit', and the Holy Spirit will say, "No" —do not go there, do not do this, do not say that, etc!

Our awareness of Him during the 'unspoken yes' times, (when we have liberty in our normal daily walk), is much the same as when we are physically healthy. When we are healthy physically and all is well, we're not conscious of any restraint in our body, we simply move spontaneously at our own will and decisions, until we recognize that we are ill or injured - then we feel the limiting sense of discomfort or restraint in body.

It's the same way when we "walk in (by) the Spirit" (Galatians 5:16, 18, 25). 'God's unspoken Yes' is most often without a conscious sense; —but His "No" is known to us by a limiting sense of discomfort or restraint within us, that sense is felt by us as a heaviness, a knot in our gut, or simply an inner sense of restraint, whereby we just know that we should not do this or that.

If you are recognizing this in your life, or if what I'm trying to say is what you experience in your heart, then this is how you will know that the Spirit is working in your life. I can almost guarantee that you have experienced His silent "Yes" and 'red flagged' "No" before. Maybe this post will just reiterate and embolden your attention to it.
