If you preach Paul, you have missed it completely by abandoning Jesus

DEVIATION OF TRUTH:

Paul preached like me and you. He preached Christ crucified. He preached repentance and remission of sins. He pointed people to Jesus. Therefore, Jesus is the pattern to follow not Paul. Paul healed and delivered people using Jesus' name. Christ is the focus. His teachings are what we should follow and apply. Paul clarified Jesus' sacrifice and related it the Old Testament atonement. His teachings can never override Jesus' teachings. If you preach Paul, you have missed it completely by abandoning Jesus to concentrate on Paul. You left the substance and pursued the shadow. I'm not saying Paul teachings are not to be followed but it shouldn't be the central focus.

CORRECTION ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE:

1Ti_1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Paul is the first to be saved into the grace dispensation. The verse tells us that Paul is the pattern that we should follow, as he himself follows Christ by being an example to us in living by the new revelations of God’s grace. Since Jesus did not (and could not) set the pattern of grace living (since He was the pattern for the Jews in His earthly ministry), Paul, whom Jesus called to be our apostle, is the pattern for us by his writings.

I in no way diminish Christ, and indeed, Christ is the focus of Paul's teachings, 1 Cor.3:10-11, but not according to law. Jesus earthly ministry was to the Jews only. Jesus Himself said that He came ONLY for the lost sheep of the house of Israel, (Matthew 15:24).

Know also that Jesus has a heavenly ministry which is for us, the Gentiles. Jesus revealed Himself to Paul and provided him with everything we need to know and do to be pleasing to Him and do His will today.

The letters that Paul wrote are inspired by God and therefore completes the Word of God.

1Co 14:37  If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord

Rejecting what Paul writes is the same as rejecting what Jesus taught in the gospels. Paul's teachings do not override Jesus' teachings as they are from the very same source, of Christ Himself. I do not call the letters of Paul, shadows. I’m sorry my friend, but to contradict you, Romans to Philemon are the Words of God for today in the same way as the words of the prophets were before Jesus died.
