What are some encouraging Bible verses for you?

Here is a selection of verses that I find encouraging, often for a greater purpose than just having a temporal view of life.

1. Romans 5:1

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:"

This is encouraging because it declares a settled legal standing rather than a fluctuating feeling. This verse reveals that peace isn’t maintained by our behaviour but was secured at the cross. We are not striving for favour; we possess a finished, eternal tranquillity as a present reality.

2. Ephesians 1:6

"To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

The encouragement lies in the fact that God has already "made" us acceptable. We often struggle to earn approval, but understanding our Mystery doctrine reveals that our position in Christ is a gift of grace. Regardless of our flaws, we are perfectly accepted because God sees us through His Son.

3. Colossians 2:10

"And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:"

This provides rest from the exhausting search for spiritual "more." This verse proves that we aren’t waiting for future kingdom blessings to be whole; we are complete the moment we believe. We lack nothing for our journey because God has already provided every spiritual necessity through our union with Christ.

4. 2 Timothy 1:7

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Written during intense persecution, this reminds us that fear never comes from God. In this current age, He has equipped our "inner man" with a sound mind to process trials. Rather than removing obstacles, God’s design gives us the supernatural clarity and power to endure them with quiet confidence.

5. Titus 2:13

"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;"

True encouragement comes from looking upward to our specific heavenly hope. By understanding the text more clearly, we see the snatching up of the Body of Christ as a certain promise. It reminds us that our story doesn't end with earthly decay, but with a glorious transformation that makes any present-day trial seem light and momentary.

6. Romans 8:38-39

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This is the ultimate statement of security. It is encouraging because it declares every possible threat—even spiritual powers—powerless against our union with Christ. This doctrinal fortress provides a peace that earthly promises of protection or prosperity simply cannot match.

7. 2 Corinthians 12:9

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

This validates our struggles instead of promising to remove them. In the current age of grace, God’s power is most visible when His strength sustains us in our weakness. It is a relief to know we don’t have to be "strong" for God; His grace is our constant, sufficient supply.
